The clients contacted CKDS to solve the issues they were having with the plantings in the driveway circle, add foundation plantings and specimen trees, incorporate a vegetable and cutting garden, and site a fire pit.

The driveway circle was the first visual contact you had with the property. It originally consisted of a few struggling Amelenchiars, and a jumble of overgrown perennials, and a failed water feature. The clients desired a low maintenance mix of specimen trees and perennials.

We kept the Amelchiar as a base, added native dogwoods and created a mass understory planting of drifts of grasses and perennials for ongoing seasonal color and texture.

Clients were also keen to add trees to their property that would be enjoyed from their screen porch as well as the inside the house. In the wet areas of the property, we planted Tamaracks , Red oaks, and willows. Stands of white birch, Swamp white oak, Katsura and magnolias were all planted.

We positioned the vegetable and cutting running the length of a reset stone wall outside of the kitchen. He is an avid vegetable gardener and she now loves her new perennial garden form the kitchen and dining area window.

The fire pit was created by a local stone craftsman using all native stone from the client’s property. I true work of art on the property.
